Mission Accomplished

I was excited to be in the car with you
But today was different.
When we got out of the car I could sense that something wasn't right.
You walked me toward a building I didn't want to go into.
I smelled fear there, and death
I cringed and urinated all over the floor, I could not help it.
I pushed against your leg, and pleaded with my heart
Don't leave me here. Please don't leave me here.
But you did and I don't know why.
Someone took me by my collar and dragged me to a cage
And I shook. I heard whining and barking and pitiful meows.
I have never been this frightened in all my life.
Three days I have been here.
Someone took my picture. Someone petted me through the cage.
A few smiling people came and took some dogs with them, but not me.
Now a worker comes to take me to a room.
There are many other dogs in this room, and we are all scared.
Some dogs go through a door but they don't come back.
The people here look very sad.
I don't want to stay here, but I do not want to go through that door.
There is fear here, and death.
Where are you my owner, my guardian?
How could you bring me here?
All I ever wanted to do was love you my whole life long.
Today I accomplished my mission.
